Dokyumi, or a single-document parser?
We build both, so we have no reason to steer you wrong. Here's the honest, 30-second way to pick the right one.
Quick self-check
Answer yes or no to these three questions:
- Do I need to parse more than one kind of document?
- Do I need a custom set of fields — not a fixed, pre-built form template?
- Do I need an API endpoint to call from my own code, or a branded portal for clients to upload to?
Yes to any of these → use Dokyumi. No to all three (you just need one form type parsed, fast and cheap) → pick your form type in the table below.
Choose Dokyumi if:
- You need a custom extraction schema — your own fields, not a fixed template
- You process more than one document type (invoices AND bank statements AND tax forms, etc.)
- You want a dedicated API endpoint to call from your own code
- You want a white-label portal so your customers can upload documents directly
- You're building a product or internal workflow around document data, not converting a handful of one-off files
Choose a single-document parser if:
- You only need ONE form type — just W-2s, just pay stubs, just invoices
- You want the simplest, cheapest option built specifically for that one job
- You don't need a custom schema or an API — upload a file, download the result
- You want the lowest possible price to get started
- You're not building an integration — you just need this batch of documents parsed

Questions
Can I start with a single-document parser and move to Dokyumi later?+
Yes. There's no lock-in — a lot of teams start on a single-document tool for one form type, then move to Dokyumi once they need a second document type, a custom schema, or an API endpoint.
Do Dokyumi and the single-document parsers share infrastructure?+
They're sibling products from the same team, built on a similar OCR + AI extraction approach — but they are separate products with separate accounts and billing. Signing up for one does not create an account on the other.
What if I'm not sure how many document types I'll need?+
Start with Dokyumi's free tier (100 extractions/month, no card required) and define one schema. If it turns out you only ever need that one form type, you can always compare cost against the matching single-document tool later.
